Grüezi! Hello! Hei! I'm Rita – and I'll teach you Norwegian in the way that suits you best.
Languages and the connection between people have fascinated me for as long as I can remember. Most of the people who learn with me share a love of the North – the wish to travel there and understand more than just “hello”. Here's my journey – from England via Norway to the Basel area.

Raised bilingually in Norway and England. Languages and communication between people have fascinated me since childhood.

Studied Norwegian, German and Linguistics – and then moved to Norway.

Two years in Norway
A year in northern Norway and a year in Hardanger – as a teacher and as a tour guide. In northern Norway I experienced the Northern Lights and the midnight sun for the first time. Land, people and language first-hand, right across the country.

Worked as a teacher in Germany, Denmark and England.

And who am I, when I'm not teaching?
I'm happiest spending time with my friends and family, out in nature, or cooking together. I swim, knit and travel whenever I can – and Norway always draws me back. It's exactly this joy in people, language and the North that I bring into every lesson.
My love of the Norwegian language and culture was instilled in me from birth. This language school is dedicated to my beloved mother from the fjord country of Norway.

When can I start a course?
Any time. There are no fixed start dates and no minimum number of participants – we arrange the times individually, by agreement.
Are lessons held online or in person?
Both are possible. The flexible online courses suit all levels, and you can join from anywhere. I offer in-person lessons in the Basel area.
Which levels do you teach?
Norwegian (Bokmål) from A1 to C2 – from your first sentences to confident speaking. I teach English and German on request, also from beginner to advanced.
What language do you teach in?
I teach in German and in English – so you can comfortably learn Norwegian even if German isn't your native language.
What does a lesson cost?
A lesson lasts 45 minutes. One-to-one lessons start from CHF 90, small groups from CHF 50 per person. For companies and intensive courses, I put together an individual quote. In a free trial lesson, we get to know each other with no obligation.
Do you offer exam preparation?
I don't currently offer dedicated exam courses. Preparation courses for the “Norskprøve” are planned for 2027. Of course, I can already tailor lessons to a personal goal right now – feel free to mention it in your trial lesson.
